Computing
Intent
At Seymour Primary our mission is to engage and enrich children’s curiosity and experience in school through digital literacy, ICT and computer science. We will provide all children with the skills, knowledge, understanding and courage to become digitally literate, equipping them for life, within the 21st century classroom. Every child will have the opportunity to explore, connect and embrace the technology available to them and equip them for the next stage in their education and into the workplace. Every child will understand the significance of computing in everyday life and reach their full potential in an ever changing digital world. In addition through our E-safety curriculum, children will have the knowledge, skills and compassion to engage in the ever growing online community. Every child will be guided through an ambitious computing curriculum delivered through high quality teaching and a range of learning experiences.
How is this subject taught
At our school, we use Kapow Primary’s Computing scheme of work to teach pupils to become curious, confident, and explorative thinkers, developing the skills to think like computing experts. Lessons are designed to help pupils question, observe, and investigate problems, collect and record data in a variety of ways, and analyse and present their findings effectively. Through this approach, children develop both practical computing skills and a deeper understanding of how technology can be used to explore and make sense of the world around them.
