Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided to schools to help reduce inequalities and ensure that children who may face disadvantage can reach their full potential. This funding is specifically allocated to support pupils who:
  • Are eligible for free school meals (FSM), currently or at any point in the last six years
  • Have been looked after continuously for more than six months
  • Are children of service personnel
At Seymour, we use the Pupil Premium to provide targeted support, helping all children to achieve, thrive, and overcome barriers to learning.

At Seymour Primary School, we are dedicated to creating a nurturing and inspiring environment where every child can thrive. We celebrate diversity and foster a strong sense of belonging among children, families, and staff.

Our community encourages curiosity, compassion, and courage, empowering everyone to learn, achieve, and grow with confidence.

We understand that every family’s circumstances are unique and that challenges can impact both academic progress and personal development.

Disadvantage is not a single issue with a single solution. Instead of viewing it as a problem to “fix,” we approach it with empathy, understanding, and thoughtful action.

Our use of funding is carefully focused on raising achievement, improving attendance, and supporting the wellbeing of all children.

Across our school, there is a shared understanding of what disadvantage means and the barriers it can create.

Our pupil premium strategy is fully aligned with our School Improvement Plan (SIP), CPD plan, and wider school policies.

Guided by the Seymour Teaching Pyramid, we place priority on building a positive school culture, delivering high-quality teaching, and providing targeted academic support where it is needed most.

The school rigorously reviews the impact of its work with a sharp focus on whether this is making a positive difference to disadvantaged pupils.
