Wellbeing

We acknowledged that growing up in the world today is challenging. The Department of Education recognises that “in order to help pupils succeed, schools have a role to play in supporting them to be resilient and mentally healthy”. We want all children at Seymour to thrive and be fit and healthy and this includes their mental health.

At Seymour we adopt a whole school approach where all staff support and recognise the need for positive mental health and wellbeing in all children. Building trusting relationships with familiar adults and knowing who to ask and where to go for help is key to supporting a child in school.

What support can we provide?

  • Trained mental health first aiders in school who help identify who needs support
  • Trained bereavement counselor in school
  • Playtime interventions
  • Learning provision through KS1 and KS2
  • Refer to the Thoughtful Team who provide one to one counseling

How to access support?

Please contact a member of staff if you are concerned about your child’s mental health and wellbeing by talking to your child’s class teacher, TKAT ACE tutor, a member of the Senior Leadership Team or via the school office or year group emails.

Seymour Primary School are part of TKAT (The Kemnal Academies Trust). You can find out more about TKAT by visiting www.tkat.org and you can follow them on Twitter @TKATAcademies.
