Interpreters

The Young Interpreters (YI’s) are a group of KS2 children who provide additional support to pupils who are new to English.   They work with children twice a week in their classes and meet as a team every fortnight.

Young Interpreters are responsible for:

  • Supporting identified children who are new to English in learning basic language skills and understanding school systems and activities
  • Meeting with Mrs Sam Coase to share ideas, support each other and think about ways to make the best impact
  • Organising and maintaining their own resources
  • Volunteering their language skills to support families who have English as an Additional Language and school visitors when required
