At Seymour Primary School, we believe art is a major contribution to the education of children; through creativity, curiosity and experience. Our art curriculum encourages, inspires and challenges children, equipping them with the core knowledge and skills to create their own works of art. As children progress through the school, they will develop a love of the arts and the confidence to experiment, using a wide range of materials.  The children will be encouraged to think critically and reflect on how Art and Design shapes our history and contributes to our shared culture.

How is this subject taught:

Three units of art are covered across a year; these include drawing, printing and sculpture. Each unit allows children to explore a range of skills, media and equipment building up to a final outcome. They will have opportunities to experience “real life art” at art galleries and exhibitions, as well as sessions with our resident artist.
