Moving to Secondary School

Selecting the right secondary school for your child is one of the most important decisions a parent makes for their child and so all parents are encouraged to visit more than one school so that an informed decision can be made. In the autumn term of a child’s final year at primary school (Year 6) parents and carers receive information from West Sussex explaining how arrangements for secondary transfer are managed in the county and details of the secondary schools available. The secondary schools in the Crawley area will host a range of ‘open afternoons/evenings’ so that children and parents can tour the schools, meet staff and students.

Whilst parents are able to make applications to any secondary school, Seymour School has enjoyed a long and positive relationship with Thomas Bennett Community College. The partnership between the schools has been further enhanced through our shared academy status as TKAT schools since 2012.

Attending transition events at the college will enable parents to learn more about how Thomas Bennett Community College can provide for the next stage of your child’s education whilst ensuring that any individual needs are supported and your child’s talents and abilities are challenged to the highest levels.

Seymour Primary School are part of TKAT (The Kemnal Academies Trust). You can find out more about TKAT by visiting www.tkat.org and you can follow them on Twitter @TKATAcademies.
