Welcome from the Headteacher

Thank you for visiting the Seymour Primary School website. I hope that it provides a useful insight in to life at Seymour for both prospective and existing Seymour parents and children.

Our aim at Seymour is simple – to provide the community with a highly successful and well regarded primary school which recognises the individual character and abilities of each child, is ambitious for them and enables them to be the best that they can be.

To that end we aim to foster in our children an appetite for learning, preparing them not only for the next stage of their education but also to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to make a positive contribution to their community and wider society in the 21st century.

The aims & day to day work of the school are underpinned by 4 core values of:

Aspiration, Responsibility, Respect & Resilience.

These values translate clearly in to our aims for the children and direct the work of school.

Our aims for Seymour children are that they are:

  • Aspirational: demonstrating an appetite for learning and a desire to do well in life.
  • Responsible: equipped with the skills and knowledge to make a positive contribution to society.
  • Respectful: have a positive regard for themselves, others and the values of the country we live in.
  • Resilient:  equipped with the skills and character traits required to realise aspirations and deal positively with life’s challenges.

At Seymour we believe that good foundations are key in achieving academic success, securing emotional well-being and building resilience.

The Seymour learning journey starts pre-school as we are able to offer nursery provision for children from the age of 3 years (click here for nursery prospectus). We recognise that parents are a child’s first educators and firmly believe in working in partnership with parents throughout their child’s time at school.

Seymour Primary School is a true ‘learning community’ - all staff & children are supported to continually strive for improvement. For staff this happens in a variety of ways but not least through our partnership with The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT) who recognise that a school is only as good as the people in it. Through this partnership there is high quality professional development for staff, good school to school support and clear systems of accountability. Consequently for the children, improvement is secured through the work of a dedicated staff team who recognise the needs of the whole child, are ambitious for their academic achievement as well as their happiness and well-being.

I am proud of Seymour School, what the school stands for and the ambition staff hold for all those who come through our door.

Visits to the school are most welcome; please contact the school office to arrange an appointment.
